Years and Years play to a full house at Swindon Oasis

Years and Years gave a very polished and entertaining performance to a sold out concert at The Swindon Oasis last night. Good music and good to photograph. I messed up by miss counting the first three songs and security had to ask me to leave the pit but to be honest sometimes you are so busy focused on what you are doing you don’t always notice how many songs have been played. My apologies to anybody that I affected.

Good evenings entertainment and I can understand why they are winning lots and lots of awards.

Karen Marie Orsted at Swindon Oasis

Danish Electro Pop singer and performer Karen Marie Orsted performed a stunning set as the support act for Years and Years at the Swindon Oasis venue. She was very very good and interacted with the audience really well and she was (or appeared to be) quite happy me being up close to take images.

I would definitely go and see her again.

Fun at Café Art, Old Town Swindon

Well as I have said before my most favourite Café in the World (and I have been to a lot), is Café Art in Old Town, Swindon. I just love the staff there and they have all become good friends over the years.
So I had an impromptu photo shoot with them yesterday. They were so much fun to photograph. I also wanted to photograph the Café before it changes.

Go visit Café Art, you wont be disappointed.

Misty Morning at the Cemetery in Swindon

This morning I spent an hour or so wandering around a very misty Clifton Street Cemetery in Swindon. It was lovely and not spooky at all, as much as I wanted it to be!!!! and unfortunately didn’t see any strange happenings. This cemetery is fascinating as it has lots of old G.W.R. workers graves as well as Commonwealth War Graves. I have only been round a small part of it so far and intend to spend a lot more time there looking around and photographing the graves.

Music Update

Today I spent a couple of hours updating my website with some Music Images from Bristol Concerts last summer. These are some of my favourites from the three days. It is really difficult to decide which are the best and which are the ones I like the most as I always take quite a few when I go to a concert.

I really enjoy music photography and working to get to many more major concerts again this year.

I hope you enjoy looking at my images.

My Photography A Change Of Direction

Well, I have decided to change the focus (excuse the pun)of my photography. I have found it just too difficult to achieve a ‘business’ in Journalism and PR work. There simply is just not enough to go round. Certainly around here in the Swindon area there isn’t. So I have decided that rather than take on jobs I don’t enjoy doing I will only do what I enjoy. That means I will still do some journalism work but only interesting stuff. I will keep on doing as much of the music photography as I can as I really enjoy that and do more documentary work. It is so nice just wandering around with the camera with no pressure to produce anything at all. I am not sure if I should start another blog or to just keep this one. At the moment I am thinking of just keeping this one as it is really still photojournalism.

These images are from one of the local cemeteries which I walked through on the way to town and just could not resist getting the camera out for a few shots. I will definitely be returning for a proper wander around.

I hope you find them interesting.

Faces in the crowd Swindon Holocaust Memorial Service 2016

Holocaust Memorial Day 2016 was marked in Swindon by a service held at the Cenotaph in the Town Centre. Despite it being cold wet and windy there was a good turnout in fact there were far more attending than last year. In amongst the crowd there were local dignitaries and the Mayor of Swindon laid a wreath.

Junior Doctors Strike at Swindon Great Western Hospital

Tuesday 12th Jan saw the first day of the National Junior Doctors series of strike days. There was a good turn out of support on the picket line outside of The Great western Hospital in Swindon. The Junior Doctors were joined by The Green Party and by The Swindon Peoples Assembly who showed solidarity with the strikers.

Swindon Panto Snow White

Well over 5 different days and nights I had the pleasure of photographing the Swindon Panto Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs at The Wyvern Theatre. It was sooooooo much fun, the cast were just great. The Panto itself I never got tired of watching. I also did a couple of the promo shoots where Adam Woodyatt was at Regents Circus and Snow White was at OMG hairdressers to have her hair done.

I took several hundred images over the 4 days of shooting and this is just a very very small selection.

For me a fun Panto season in Swindon.

The 1975 perform at The Swindon Oasis in 2015

The Swindon Oasis was packed out within minutes of the doors opening for the concert of The 1975. Some people had been waiting since 8 in the morning to watch their favourite band.

Now I have to admit it is not my favourite type of music but they put on a very good performance which was quite impressive. The only thing that spoilt it was the group punch up that took place up stairs in the break. But hey ho, that’s rock and roll baby …..
