Swindon Panto Snow White

Well over 5 different days and nights I had the pleasure of photographing the Swindon Panto Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs at The Wyvern Theatre. It was sooooooo much fun, the cast were just great. The Panto itself I never got tired of watching. I also did a couple of the promo shoots where Adam Woodyatt was at Regents Circus and Snow White was at OMG hairdressers to have her hair done.

I took several hundred images over the 4 days of shooting and this is just a very very small selection.

For me a fun Panto season in Swindon.

Hairspray and the SYP at Wyvern Theatre

The SYP put on yet another stunning performance in 2015 with Hairspray at The Wyvern Theatre in Swindon.

To me it was as good as any professional production, which was also probably reflected in the fact that all showings were fully booked before hand. Very enjoyable.

I got carried away and took 1200 images. Over 200 will be being used on a disc of images from the production I am proud to say. With that many images it is very difficult to decide which ones are not only technically the best but the ones that show the production at its best. Hopefully I did a good job.

North Swindon Hustings Election 2015

Last night was the Hustings for Election 2015 for the North Swindon Candidates. It was interesting and fairly well attended by the public. Photographically it was a bit of a nightmare. The lighting was really really difficult. I didn’t want to use flash so d700 was set to 6400 and hoped for the best. Lots of hot spots etc. Managed a few usable shots.
The candidate are, Justin Tomlinson for Conservative, Mark Dempsey Labour, Poppy Hebden-Leeder Green, Janet Elland Lib Dems and James Faulkner UKIP.

Tonight is the South Swindon, which will be more interesting as I live in South Swindon but I am sure the lighting will still be a nightmare !!!!!

Matt and Amelia and Joseph at The Wyvern Theatre

There was fun and games at The Wyvern Theatre in Swindon this morning.

Matt Lapinskas (Anthony Moon in Eastenders) and Amelia Lily (X Factor and Singer) are both performing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which is taking place at The Wyvern Theatre Tue 19th to Sat 23 May. Matt and Amelia decided to create their own Technicolor coats and had a paint fight at the photo shoot this morning. It was a lot of fun for Matt and Amelia and the photographers who were there.

It would have been interesting to have seen them traveling back to Bath where they are performing tonight !!!!!

I for one will be going to see the performance. I have seen it before and I loved it. Well worth going.

Dreamboats and Miniskirts

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of being part of the photo shoot of Dreamboats and Miniskirts which took place at Carry on Vintage in the Brunel shopping centre. What lovely people they were as well. So helpful and did everything they were asked to do. It was fun. Then last night (Friday) I went to see the show at The Wyvern. Wow, it is was really really good. Two and a half hours of 60’s music was great. But more than that all of the cast looked as though they were really enjoying themselves. Which to be honest I would if I were them. It was more like a party and clearly they put heart and soul into it.

I for one (well actually all the audience did) really enjoyed it and congratulate the cast and production crew as well, the sound and lighting was just great.

Captain Hook meets his arch enemy at World of Crocodiles

Friday morning was a very fun and interesting photo shoot for the Wyvern Theatre. We took Captain Hook and a couple of pirates from the Russian Ice Stars Peter Pan on Ice cast to World of Crocodiles over at Brize Norton. What a time we had. I even managed to hold a croc myself (a very small one mind). There were some really really big crocs there and Shaun the owner took Captain Hook and the pirates into one of the enclosures where there were two very big crocs. Needless to say they were pretty nervous as I would have been. The interesting thing though was they (the crocs) were not that interested, Shaun shouted Albert a big male croc over, which duly swam over to them and made out he was going to get out the water and onto the bridge with them. Which it didnt of course. It was so well trained !!!!

It is really worth going over to World of Crocodiles and watching Peter Pan on Ice at the Wyvern in May.

Peter Pan and Tinkerbell Anton and Katya in Swindon

Yesterday I took part in the photo shoot for The Wyvern Theatre at The Link Centre where Russian Ice Stars Anton Smirnov and Katya Bokiy who are Peter Pan and Tinkerbell met the Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Team. It was as usual a fun photo shoot albeit a bit cold and I couldnt believe how quickly they moved when skating. I dont think you get the impression that they are going quite so quickly when you see it on TV. As an athlete myself I was really impressed with the physicality of it all. It definitely looked tough to me.

Peter Pan on Ice will be being performed at The Wyvern Theatre from 7th to 11th May

Peter Duncan and the cast of Birdsong at the Wyvern and the Cenotaph

I was lucky enough to photograph and meet the cast of Birdsong (as show based on the book by Sebastian Faulks) which included Peter Duncan, Jonny Clarke and George Banks. They were in costume, uniforms from the First World War which was quite strange when we were taking photos at the Cenotaph in the Swindon Town Centre. The cast also met Tom Stimpson MBE the representative and ambassador for Help for Heroes charity. Firstly I had a really good chat with Peter Duncan. The last time I spoke to him was at around mile 20 of the first London Marathon which we both ran. I also had a really good chat with Tom Stimpson MBE. Tom is ex RAF as am I but Tom was unfortunately injured in Afghanistan and has suffered from PTSD and now campaigns on behalf of Help for Heroes and other mental disability charities.

All in all a very interesting couple of hours.

Boy Band Rogue 5 meets Swindon

Today’s photo shoot was with the Boy Band Rogue 5 who will be appearing at The Wyvern Theatre on Thursday March 6th. Worth going to see them, they have sooo much energy, were really funny and even co-opted Dan Flay from TotalSwindon into the Boy Band as he was interviewing them.

Another fun day for me and meeting interesting people.

I love my job, well it isnt even a job really as I enjoy it so much.

Dame Trot meets Swindon Rugby Club

This lunchtime I did a photo shoot at the Wyvern Theatre, Dame Trot and Swindon Rugby Club. Two members of the Rugby Club met Dame Trot and presented her with a copy of their calendar. Dame Trot (David Ashley) was an absolute star and I laughed from start to finish. After their initial ‘shyness’ the rugby players got into the Panto spirit and played along with it all. The calendar was produced by Swindon Rugby Club to raise money for the Baby Unit Charity at GWH.

I have said this a thousand times but if you have not seen Jack and the Beanstalk at the Wyvern yet you must go. It is getting rave reviews, that aside it is just such a laugh.
